Extremely Open Science

This is a simple idea: we will develop scientific projects completely open and online: everything will be recorded on video, discussions will be on a public mailing-list/discord server, code will be on GitHub, and data is all publicly available.

Streams take place on Monday evening (US time), which is Tuesday morning for Luis (AUS time). Streams generally last one hour and a shorter recap video is posted on YouTube after the stream (which is added to the recap playlist).

How to keep up

Season 2

We are currently (2025) working on the following scientific question: Can we estimate the quality of a genome from an overabundance of pseudogenes?

See the sardyne repository for more information.

Season 1

We tried to answer the following scientific question: what antimicrobial resistance genes co-occur in genomes and metagenomes and does it matter?
